Cooperative learning
Hello everyone, this is my third blog post. It is a great
pleasure that I have again the opportunity to talk about another topic of this
subject. Last lecture we treated a very interesting topic that is surely going to
help us as future teachers. It is cooperative learning. Let’s go further and
talk more in details about it. At the beginning I wanted to emphasize that when I read
about this topic I immediately found it important and now I can say with a complete conviction
that cooperative learning can be a full package regarding a successful teaching.
Why do I make a such strong claim? The answer is simple my dears, when you use
this teaching strategy and implement it in the right way during your career as
a teacher, the chances to get good results are really high because this
strategy motivates your learners not only to acquire for themselves what is
explained in class, but also encourages them to help their classmates. In fact one of the
main purposes of the cooperative learning is that everything mentioned, written or discussed
has to be understood by everyone. In the other hand, the word cooperative itself gives us the panorama of a harmony and a successful collaboration of each class
member, because this strategy includes different activities, students even they
do not have the same level they feel involved, they take part actively in
learning process and so on. Therefore some other characteristic are also the small
teams and work in groups which helps students to improve their academic skills,
they extend their critical thinking and of course by interacting and
collaborating with each other, consequently their social skills should be
better . By the way, just to be clear, when I say work in groups I do not refer
traditional groups that are usually bad structured, but group works that are
carefully prepared, planned and monitored by an observer ,teacher in this case.
In addition ,in this strategy we find instructional
models and structures that are well designed, which teachers can adopt and
adapt, to help the group work operate more effectively by creating an
environment for interactive learning. Furthermore what really impressed me a
lot it was also the friendly environment that is usually created or the fact
that everyone feels special. I really
suggest every teacher in the world to use this effective strategy.
Thank you!
